"I believe that fashion is more than expressing the way we look. I love the feeling of jewelry made from seeds against my skin. Feeling good and comfortable is just as important to my experience."

My Story

I grew up in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, where I experienced a huge influx of people coming from other Brazilian states, with a dream of improving their lives in this newly designated capital. It was a fascinating melting pot of cultures and beliefs.

The landscape of Brasilia is high desert plains with phenomenal monuments and a sky so big and beautiful, as to be delightfully surreal. I grew up intrigued by the flowers blooming in the dry savanna, on trunks of twisting trees, like bonsais. Here is where I raised my two daughters, often going to waterfalls, many over 1,000 feet tall. I was always surrounded by nature and strongly influenced by its beauty.

Brasilia also played an important role in my professional life. In 1985, I was involved with a huge cultural project of the Ministry of Culture. After that, I worked as a producer with a variety of events; art performances, videos and cinema. For more than 15 years, I  was exposed to the city's cultural expressions and intriguing personalities of the art and music worlds. I traveled throughout nearly all of Brazil. This was a rich and intense period of my life - an experience that also opened my heart to a spiritual world.

In December of 2000, I came to the U.S. to visit my two daughters that were studying in Boston and also, to take an English course. My stay of a few months became an adventure living in another country, speaking another language and the fascination of experiencing a different culture.

In 2005 I married a U.S. citizen and after 6 years, I went back to Brazil. I was truly amazed by the originality and beauty of the handcrafts. The creativity of the artisans’ designs was astounding and the quality of workmanship was a vast improvement from what I had remembered.

I began to understand their cultural importance. I was fascinated to see the beneficial impacts that the artisans were having on their communities and their respect for nature. I then became inspired to open a business when I returned from Brazil that would give me an opportunity to reconnect with Brazil's cultural heritage and allow me to create a green business.

Today, I am very excited to be CEO of my first company and happy to see my seed of inspiration growing into a sprout. I am very thankful to be working with these artisans, with whom I share a great admiration and to bring their beautiful and unique artwork to the world.

I hope you find on your own how great it is to experience Brasil BioDesigns' products and the benefits they bring to us and our environment.
